Our Approach to Inclusion

Identifying and Supporting Unique Needs

We believe that understanding each student’s strengths and challenges is the foundation of effective support. Our identification process combines teacher observations, formative and summative assessments, parental input, and, when necessary, external evaluations. This multi-faceted approach allows us to identify Students of Determination (SOD), English Language Learners (ELL), and High Potential Learners (HPL) students.

Once a student’s needs are identified, we provide tailored interventions at three levels:

  • Wave 1: Universal Support – Differentiated classroom instruction and accommodations ensure inclusivity in every learning environment.
  • Wave 2: Targeted Support – Individualized Action Plans (IAPs) or Behavior Support Plans (BSPs) are created to address specific needs through in-class strategies and small-group interventions.
  • Wave 3: Specialist Support – Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and external support services, such as speech and language therapy or occupational therapy, are implemented for students requiring more intensive support.

Our team of dedicated inclusion professionals, including counselors, support teachers, and Learning Support Assistants (LSAs), works closely with classroom teachers, students, and families to implement and monitor these plans effectively.

Catering to a Spectrum of Needs

Ambassador International Academy (AIA) is dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment where all students are supported, regardless of their individual abilities or challenges. In line with KHDA guidelines and the revised categorization list, we ensure that every student receives the necessary resources and accommodations to thrive. Our commitment to inclusion extends beyond academic support, encompassing co-curricular activities and overall development, ensuring equal opportunities for all learners to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.

Collaborative Support Systems

At our school, we prioritise building strong partnerships with parents by involving them as active participants in the inclusion process. Through regular communication, workshops, and collaborative goal-setting, families play an integral role in shaping their child's educational journey. We also empower students to take an active role in advocating for their learning needs, encouraging them to voice their thoughts and contribute to the development of their learning plans. Furthermore, we extend our support network by collaborating with external professionals, including therapists and educational psychologists, to provide holistic care and ensure that each child receives the best possible support both in and out of the classroom.

Unified Learning for All: Championing Inclusion and Diversity

At AIA, inclusion is not just a commitment—it’s our guiding principle. Through our flagship initiative, Unified Learning for All, we create a learning environment where every student, regardless of their abilities, background, or needs, has the opportunity to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

As a Unified Champion School, we have earned recognition for our dedication to fostering meaningful inclusion and empowering students of all abilities to realize their full potential. By integrating personalized support, a collaborative community, and evidence-based practices, we ensure that every learner feels valued and supported.

What is HPL?

The High Potential Learners (HPL) program at AIA is designed to identify and nurture students with exceptional potential across various subjects. These students demonstrate advanced cognitive abilities, creative thinking, and a strong passion for learning. The HPL program aims to provide these students with additional opportunities to challenge themselves, excel, and explore new areas of interests.

Students are selected for the HPL program through a combination of criteria, including consistent high performance, teacher recommendations, and assessments that highlight their potential. We take a holistic approach to identifying these students, considering their strengths in both core subjects and specialised areas.

Core Values

The HPL program emphasizes core values that are essential for fostering success and personal growth:

  • Curiosity: Encouraging students to explore new ideas, ask questions, and pursue knowledge beyond the curriculum.
  • Creativity: Fostering an environment where students can think outside the box, innovate, and solve problems in novel ways.
  • Leadership: Providing opportunities for students to develop leadership skills, collaborate with peers, and take initiative in their learning.
  • Excellence: Supporting students in achieving their highest potential and setting a standard of excellence in both academics and personal development.
