Welcome to the English Language Learning (ELL) Department, an integral part of AIA, our international school in Dubai, where we proudly support students across the IB – KG2, PYP, MYP, and DP curricula. Our mission is to empower students from diverse linguistic backgrounds to thrive academically and socially by providing tailored English language lessons that aligns with the IB’s core values of inquiry, reflection, and intercultural understanding.
From Grades 3 to 5, we support students in further developing their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, with a strong emphasis on building literacy foundations to help them thrive in the curriculum. We collaborate closely with homeroom teachers to integrate language support and differentiation into their lessons and classroom inquiries, ensuring that all students can actively and confidently engage in their learning journey
In the Middle Years Programme (MYP), Grade 6 to 10, we provide targeted English support that equips students with the academic language skills needed to excel in all subject areas. Through dynamic lessons, we develop their proficiency in writing, speaking, listening, and reading while nurturing critical thinking and self-expression. We offer small-group sessions for personalised instruction tailored to individual needs.
For the Diploma Programme (DP) Career Programme (CP) and Betec, Grade 11and 12 we support students in mastering academic English to meet the demands of advanced coursework, extended essays, reflective project, TOK essay & exibition and examinations. We focus on refining their analytical writing, research skills, and oral communication, ensuring they are well-prepared for university and beyond.
Our department comprises highly qualified language acquisition specialists dedicated to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment. By collaborating with teachers and parents, we ensure every student receives the guidance they need to achieve their full potential.
